In my most recent work I'm exploring the interstices between schematic representation and rendered depiction. This approach is an outgrowth of my observation that far too much of what we see is very clearly and easily identified -- and that when this is the case, it is quickly dismissed without being truly observed.
At its most successful, this recent work of mine is a challenging "neither this nor that" suspension, reminding me of a line from Mumon's comment on the koan Joshu's Dog: "...like gulping a hot iron ball that you can neither swallow nor spit out."
