Erica Caginalp

Erica Leigh Caginalp is a teaching artist living and working in Suffield Connecticut. A passion for clay and a love affair with functional art have strongly influenced Erica’s time in the studio. Erica is constantly experimenting with different clays, glazes, and techniques. She often starts by throwing functional forms (bowls, vases, platters, etc.) then, decorates, carves, covers, or reapplies trimmings to their surfaces. These surface decorations are often inspired by plant and sea life. Each object is original and a study in beauty. A fellow artist commented, “Her work is peaceful. That peace can be hard to come by.”
