Painting is my passion. It has been a major part of my life as long as I can remember. I receive sensual stimulation everyday for my abstract paintings from my environment and its colors, texture, light and form and interactions around me. I incorporate these influences into my work through the use of various textures and techniques of manipulating oil washes, impasto paint, brush strokes and other materials. It is a similar experience to traveling where you are constantly discovering something new about an area or a person in a new place. It is exciting to create a painting where I continually discover new and interesting things. This experience may be similar to an archeologist making a unique discovery during a dig. It is exciting to never be able to predict the outcome of the work on which you have been physically and mentally laboring for a period of time and see it reach it's conclusion. It can be a joyful experience and at times, a more frustrating experience but it is never a dull experience.

I am also intrigued by linear calligraphic mark making from all over the world and I have used my own calligraphic mark making as a conceptual tool by which I can further communicate my ideas. It is also very gratifying when someone else shares the love a of newly created artwork and wants it to be a part of their life. It is from these
motivations that I would love to exhibit my paintings in your space.

In the past I have worked as an art educator at East Lyme High School for 32 years (and as a department coordinator) and also as an adjunct college professor and received degrees from many colleges and universities (see my resume) where I reveled in the learning experience. My education culminated in obtaining my MFA degree in painting from Hartford Art School, University of Hartford in 1997. Since 2004 my husband and I have traveled extensively throughout the world and this has enriched my painting practice.
