Lexi Axon
Lexi Axon was born to a jazz vocalist and a lead trumpet band leader in Speedway, Indianapolis. In her formative years, a tragic event caused the three to uproot numerous times.
Lexi Axon earned an MFA from City University of New York, Hunter during Robert Morris and Rosalind Krauss’s tenure and a BFA from Syracuse University School of Visual and Performing Arts, mentored by Larry Bakke, Friedl Dzubas, Judith Rothschild. She is a recipient of Artists Space NY, NEA New York University Digital Art, New England Foundation Arts individual, and Connecticut Commission of Arts individual artist Fellowships. Residencies include Virginia Center for Creative Arts and Michael Clark Company UK residency in the Whitney Biennial 2012, among others. She is an Adjunct Professor at Eastern Connecticut State University. Her work has been shown nationally in both solo and group exhibitions, biennials, and is held in corporate and private collections.
Axon’s subjects include The Sublime, Dada and danger zones.
